Contestants may enter as many songs in as many categories as they wish. Each entry must have its own entry form and lyric sheet.

All songs that have been placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in any category of the BBSC in previous years are not eligible to be resubmitted. Previous winners, however, may submit new material. 

The Billboard Starmaker Song Contest is open to both amateur and professional songwriters. Employees of BBSC and their families, subsidiaries and affiliates are not eligible. 

Winners will be determined February 15, 2011 and will be posted on the website as well as notified by email, mail and/or phone. SonicBids entrants will receive judges comments in their SonicBids account via submission tracker status updates. Mail in entrants will receive theirs by mail. All entrants qualifying for honorable mention will receive consolation prizes within 90 days of the posting of the winners list. CDs, cassettes, lyric sheets and all other submitted materials will not be returned. 

Categories include R&B, Dance, Gospel, Rap, Rock, Country, Pop, Alternative, Electronica, Americana-Folk, Contemporary Christian and Jazz. The new category Fan Favorite requires a song entered into one of our established categories.
